I got an email yesterday from a vendor that my online order had been damaged in transit and to please contact them. So this morning I did. She told me the truck had been in an accident and the packages were destroyed, so did I want a replacement or a refund?
I said I hoped the truck driver was all right.
She thanked me, said I was the first customer who had expressed any concern for the driver, everyone she’d spoken to so far just wanted their money or their shipment. And no the driver isn’t okay, he’s in the hospital and it’s not looking good.
I said I wished all the best for him and his family.
It makes me rather sad that no other customer expressed concern about the human being who was driving the truck. So easy in this virtual world to forget that there are real people involved.
