I think that both the major parties (US and UK) are missing the point. The revolutions are not happening because people support Brexit, or Trump/Sanders. They’re not about immigration. They’re about a very deep anger stemming from fear. Anger at leadership that has spent a century saying that dignity stems only from work, and is now taking away work. Anger at a government that systematically ignores them. At a leadership that does not respect them. And a fear that after decades of trusting that their government would provide the necessities as long as they worked and kept up their part of the bargain, that trust is unfounded.
These votes do not reflect what the voters want. They reflect, loud and clear, what they don’t want.
