So far, so good on the learning new things during this time of enforced home isolation.
First passes of no-knead sourdough and Dutch ryebread came out good enough. I claim I can figure out how to cook any dish in three tries or less: both are on track. I have changes to the next try in mind and ready to roll as soon as we eat the current batch.
Next, turning over the picnic ham that’s wet-brining.
Then, for my next bit of self-improvement I’m starting my practice runs on making soft shackles for the boat. I’m practicing with a 100′ spool of 6mm UHMWPE rope and I’m learning how to tie an improved soft shackle (i.e. a double one). Once I got making it down, I’ll figure out what thickness and length I want to make the real ones.
