Dave and I had a delayed birthday dinner with our lovely wives at The Willows Inn on Lummi Island. Our birthdays were a few weeks ago a few days apart but The Willows Inn didn’t have space then, operating under safety first guidelines.
The Lummi Inn is my favorite restaurant. It is easily the best I’ve eaten at in America, certainly since eating at Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck, and it’s at least very, very close. It’s that good. They feature all food local to Lummi Island, a small island in the Lummi Indian reservation a 2 hour drive North of Seattle. They have a few pet-friendly rooms and serve a phenomenal breakfast.
This time we stayed on Vingilótë as her home port is a short drive North of Lummi Island. so we went up the night before, drove down, drive back up, and are going sailing this weekend.
Dinner was brilliant: awesome cocktails with local infusions and ingredients, a dinner built around things grown on the island and caught around it. Inventively imagined and exquisitely prepared and served by great, friendly, knowledgeable people in a beautiful setting.
We’ll be back!
